The first vines were planted

We strive to produce grapes of exceptional quality on our sandy loam soil. The principles of IPM (Integrated Pest Management) are carefully applied, and thanks to the plant knowledge gained from our other activities, we are able to achieve this goal in an environmentally friendly way.
Soil analysis, leaf analysis, warning systems and targeted canopy management are important factors in this process.
From the very beginning, we have chosen an ecological approach. The vineyard is completely grass-covered, which requires regular mowing but also offers several benefits.
On our fertile soils, the grass competes with the vines, preventing excessive growth and benefiting grape development. The mown grass creates a mulch layer that keeps nitrogen and other nutrients within the vineyard. Pruning wood from winter pruning is shredded directly in the rows so that all trace elements and minerals can later be reabsorbed by the plants. Our soil does require targeted annual liming. For this purpose, we use seaweed lime, which enables the plants to absorb nutrients as efficiently as possible.
Thanks to this strategy, we are able to grow grapes without the use of synthetic fertilizers. Each year, climate and weather conditions also play an important role. Determining the right strategy remains a challenge every season.
